Egypt ACID Declaration Checklist

What is ACID?

ACID (Advance Cargo Information Declaration) is a mandatory pre-clearance system via Egypt's NAFEZA platform, enforced since October 2021.

Step 1: Register CargoX Account

  • Who: Importer (Egypt-based entity)
  • Platform: CargoX (blockchain partner of NAFEZA)
  • Docs: Commercial Registration, Tax Card, Importer Code
  • Timeline: 3-7 business days
  • Cost: $50-100

Step 2: Submit ACID Application

  • When: At least 48 hours before vessel loading
  • Docs: Proforma/Commercial Invoice, HS Code (6-digit), Packing List, Booking Confirmation, PO
  • Timeline: 1-3 business days
  • Cost: ~$100-150 per shipment

Step 3: ACID Confirmation

  • ACID number must be printed on: Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List
  • One ACID per Bill of Lading
  • Valid for single import only

Step 4: Customs Clearance

  • Ports: Alexandria / Port Said / Damietta
  • Inspection rate: 20-30%
  • Normal clearance: 5-10 business days
