Golden Week 2026: The Last Restock Window for Middle East

2026-09

It is September 19, and most Pearl River Delta factories have already locked their schedules through month-end. Mid-Autumn Festival lands on September 25, National Day runs October 1-7 — too close together. The Shenzhen and Yiwu suppliers I work with stop lines around September 24 and will not restart until October 8. That is a lost window.

Miss the next ten days and you are waiting until October 10 at the earliest. Saudi White Friday sits in late November, and sea freight from Shekou to Jebel Ali takes 22-28 days. Ship in mid-October and you arrive right at the edge, with zero buffer.

Rates are already moving. Book before end of September and a 40ft to Jebel Ali runs about $1,800-2,400. Push it to mid-October, when the restart rush meets Christmas stocking, and I would expect $2,600-3,000. Air is blunter: Guangzhou to Riyadh is $5-6.5 per kg today, and the week before the holiday usually jumps 15-25%.

My approach is three waves. Hot SKUs and out-of-stocks fly now, 3-5 days door to door. Regular lines catch the September 25 ocean cut-off. Everything else waits for a fast vessel after October 8. Never put a whole quarter in one container.

One thing people forget: SABER and SASO certificates. The issuing bodies close for the same holiday. What normally takes 3-5 working days stretches to 7-10. Same story with certificates of origin and invoice authentication. Incomplete documents mean your cargo sits at port regardless.

Also confirm your supplier's first post-holiday production run. Many factories serve big legacy accounts in week one and push small orders back. So — are you betting on late September, or playing it safe in mid-October?
