The question I keep getting on WeChat these past two weeks: "If I ship now, will it make White Friday?" Honestly, it depends on how you ship and which warehouse you're shipping into.
Platform warehouses first. Amazon.ae and Amazon.sa usually close Q4 inbound 3-4 weeks before the sale goes live. To hit late-November White Friday, cargo needs to be inside the warehouse by mid-October — not sitting at the port. That gap is 10-14 days of clearance plus delivery. Noon's FBN runs on a similar clock, usually about a week later.
On ocean, East and South China to Jebel Ali is running 22-28 days right now, then another 5-7 days by road to Riyadh. Book by end-September and a 40HQ lands around USD 1,900-2,400. After October 10 it climbs roughly USD 100-200 a week, and carriers are already flagging peak-season surcharges. Air is faster, but quotes for the last week of September are at USD 4.2-5.5/kg — about 30% above August.
Freight rates aren't the real bottleneck, though. Warehouse space is. I checked with a few 3PLs in Riyadh and Dubai: receiving appointments for mid-October are already booked 5-7 days out. General cargo is fine. Anything needing separate handling — batteries, cosmetics — has basically no room for a last-minute push.
Three things I'd do. Split the restock: air for hero SKUs, ocean for the cost side. Don't ship on the cutoff date; landing 10 days early is the safe zone. And if an SKU hasn't moved in 90 days, leave it. Storage fees hurt more than a stockout.
8ship told us the same thing: after the first week of October, neither rate nor transit time is guaranteed on space and trucking. Golden Week shuts factories for 5-7 days, which pushes everything back another notch.
So — is your restock list locked, or are you betting on November air rates?
